LS: IMOCA 60

Polar graph for IMOCA 60 (LiveSkipper)The polar graph for LiveSkipper’s IMOCA 60 shown here is a slightly updated version of the one I posted earlier. This version is more in line with Bluewater Racing’s specifications. As before, it is a composite of foresail, genoa, code 0 and spinnaker.

If the text data below is used to create a .pol file for Bluewater Racing, a little tweaking is required. The 45° wind angle is not the optimum upwind wind angle for all wind speeds, nor is the 150° angle the optimum downwind angle. Until I find a way to get a horizontal scrollbar in this blog so I can post all data here, or decide to put .pol files up elsewhere, I’ll just indicate which changes are required.

Change the twa2 – bs2 and the twa9 – bs9 pairs as follows:

twa2 bs2 twa9 bs9
48 5.7 144 6.1
45 10.5 146 11.6
45 12.0 150 15.2
47 12.9 151 19.4
45 13.8 153 24.5
41 13.0 155 28.0
42 11.8 160 26.1
40 9.2 160 20.7
